Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy

Key Principle: Hartree has a zero tolerance policy to modern slavery and human trafficking and is committed to complying with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and achieving best and ethical business practice across all activities.

“Modern Slavery” is a crime and a violation of fundamental human rights.

It takes various forms such as:

  • slavery;
  • servitude;
  • forced and compulsory labour, and
  • human trafficking.

It has the common feature that it involves one person depriving another of their liberty in order to exploit that person for commercial or personal gain.

Hartree has a zero tolerance approach to modern slavery in any form. In particular, everyone who works for and does business with Hartree must avoid any activity that might amount to, or lead to, a breach of its policy. Hartree encourages openness and will support anyone who raises genuine concerns in good faith under its policy, even if they prove to be mistaken.
